Interested in finding out typical costs for a new septic system in East Boothbay Maine. I have an approved plan and the land is easy to access and contains just scrub brush and weeds. Needs to support a small 3 bed, 2 bath house. Thanks!

Could be $5-10k or more. The brush and weeds don't matter- it's what they're growing on that matters. If you have ledge close to the surface then you will need to have fill trucked in and a raised area constructed.

You need to get an estimate from a professional in the area who will go out and look at what needs to be done. An answer from an unknown dufus on a message board isn't going to be of much real use to you...unless you take the advice to get a pro to look at it and give you a quote.

The contents of that plan, the details it describes, is the primary factor in how much it will cost you.

There are dozens of different types of septic systems. You soil and projected number of bedrooms determines which type of system was described in your plan.

Does it require chambers? How many? Does it require pumps? Is it a stone bed?

Might as well ask how much does a car cost?

If you have an approved plan, you already know at least one certified site evaluator. They typically won't give you their preference as to who to hire for the install.

This link will take you to a link to a spreadsheet listing those installers certified in Maine. It was updated in August, so is quite current. Show you plan to some of those close by and get some prices. You should get out of it for not too much over $5000 if it's a plan with no big hurdles to overcome.

You can be happy that in Maine there is an enlightened attitude. A professional will come to your property and design something for you. Pennsylvania, for example, has some local backhoe guy who digs a hole and put water in it(perk test) and if it fails to drain in the right amount of time fails you, and then that's it. Here where I live, granite bedrock is about 6 feet down, and on that basis, most would fail. So an alternative is developed. I have a sand mound with a pump and two tanks. As long as the solids don't make it up to the sand mound, it will last forever.
