Electric fence that sounds crazy. Have you tried calling the corporate office for the builder because alot of the time, the sales person doesnot know what they are talking about.

maybe you need to look at another new community in Howard. Ryan Homes donot build quality homes anyways.

It should be up to the HOA. If you feel the sales rep at the model house is not quite on top of the ball....ask to see the HOA bylaws.

Christina, I can't believe that in this market the sales rep would do anything to keep me from buying a house. I believe him about the HOA. It's just crazy.

Update: I spoke with the builder (Ryan) today and they explained that although these are new townhomes, you don't own the land that surrounds them. (that's why it has a condo association) So that takes away your right to put up a fence. Not what I wanted to hear, but still good to know. In the meantime, if my house doesn't sell by the end of October, I'll just take it off the market until February, as things will most likely slow down in the winter and will pick back up in the spring. Once it sells, I'll look for a resale townhome that either already has a fence, or has a HOA that will allow me to put one up.

mishka, thanks, but I'm about to close on another home in Howard county next Friday. BTW, today I noticed that the sales signs leading to the development has dropped to "starting from the mid $380's".
