Hello:

I hope someone who knows the area well can help me. i am currently working in the upper marlboro area and my commute which is around 37 miles takes me an hour + 5 minutes on typical days. I am considering taking a new position in the Tenley area of DC on wisconsin avenue. i have heard horror stories about traffic on wisconsin avenue but it appears that some stretches of the avenue are worse than others. Is there a reasonable way to have a relatively stress-free commute from Clarksville to this part of DC or am I setting myself up for even worse commuting trouble ? Thanks

I'd drive to one of the Shady Grove/Rockville stations on the Red Line, and take Metro to Tenleytown. (I am assuming your work would be in walking distance or a short bus ride, and that you would not need a car during the day.)

If the employer provides parking, the better way to drive to work is to connect to Connecticut Avenue until you take a right on Nebraska Avenue to wherever the job is. You do not have to be on Wisconsin Avenue at all. The drive will probably be at least an hour.
