I had the survey done today (again- had it done when I moved in 11 years ago, but the flags were missing within a day or two). The survey company marked the property clearlytoday. I asked the neighbors if they wanted to split the cost and they said no; that they would show my where my boundary lines were. (?)

When I told them that I was going to have it done professionally, they seemed to change their tune about the property lines which suddenly became more realistic to what I knew to be the truth. I was not positive where the lines where, but I knew that according to this neighbor I was losing footage ever time I talked with her. Now the lines are clear again.

Someone is going to come out and place permanent boundary markers above ground so this should never be an issue again.

My neighbors had been friends with my husband and when he died very recently, I felt that they were taking advantage of me since he had always dealt with the lawn care, etc.

When I saw them this afternoon they are acting very mopey and as though their feeling are hurt. Not sure why since I am simply marking property that I am paying taxes on.

Glad that you got it straightened out!

All I can think is that saying about fences making good neighbors.

Give them a chance. Maybe they're embarrassed because they thought they really did know. Or maybe it was something else.. I would just let it pass. But at least you now know!

A pole with a bat box or even a bush would look nicer. LINK
