Depends on what field you go into, I guess, and where you go. While hormones + academic stress made things difficult in high school, you have the same hormones + no direct parental supervision + a whole different level of academic peers in STEM, Econ/preLaw classes @ college. Pick your poison.

Then, MCAT and LSAT are completely different beasts and stakes than SAT/ACT...and USMLE/Bar exams are completely different beasts from MCAT/LSAT....then working as a resident/junior associate....etc etc.

It can be pressuring sometimes. I went to Howard High School in Columbia for my freshman year. Sometimes they baby the crap out of you in Howard Schools and its super easy, and sometimes its super competitive. It depends on the school. I'd assume River Hill is one of the competitive schools. In my opinion, don't waste your money on a house in the River Hill district when there are many other good schools in the area that don't require you to make 6 figures and spend half of it on your kids. There are people who are pressured in a lot of high schools around here. It depends on what their parents are like and what the school is like.

Reservoir High School in Fulton (South Howard County) is a very good school. The area also offers a bit of a more rural feel if that type of lifestyle suits you. South Howard offers easy access to both DC and Baltimore as it is roughly halfway between each.
