Can anyone offer first hand experience with Sykesville MD, and Elkridge?

What I am specifically looking for is the following:

As I stated in another thread, We have four small children. We want to live in a rural area, but have access to the city feel ( so to speak). We are also looking for good, diverse schools. My oldest daughter wants to dance...any programs that you have experienced? preferably jazz, ballet, or hip-hop/ modern. My boys are also into basketball. Here at church, we have an upward basketball program. It is a christ centered program for kids to play competively, but still love God.
We need a good daycare for our baby and also a GREAT, HolyGhost filled, word of God teachin' church.

Is there anyone out there who is living this type of life and with no regrets? I have read every single page of this forum and I hear so much negativety, I am now thinking about looking in Virginia.

Please chime in

Sykesville is a great family-oriented area and that whole county (Carroll) is growing by leaps and bounds. Elkridge is also and isn't far from any of Howard County's many dance schools. Instruction in all of those dance styles is easy to find. I'm not familiar with the Upward sports program but a quick search tells me that at least one church in both Howard and Carroll County is doing their basketball program. I'm sure you'd be able to find a church in either area that you'd like. There are quite a few.

Yes, don't let us scare you away from MD, especially Carroll. I've been living here since '85 and love it. (Westminster area) The heavier populated areas naturally come with more problems, but that's anywhere.
