That sure sounds like quite the exaggeration.

The "richest" means nothing when the stewards of your tax dollars (ie. State Government under Democrats) have put you in a financial quandary to the tune of a $1.2B deficit as of December! So who gives a crap if your neighbor is loaded....the State of MD is not!

My wife and I make decent money and trying to live in Columbia Maryland is tough. We make around the same as what they claim to be "comfortable" in DC which is alot more expensive to live in then piedmont maryland and despite our house being our only debt its paycheck to paycheck....oh and its a 3 bedroom town house with no frills.

Its the same reason that cops and fireman and teachers (my wife is one of these) cant live in the area in which they work. Its very common for folks working those jobs to either live in an apartment/condo or move west or south where its cheaper.

Here is one of many many cases that exist in Maryland...its the cost of "Affluence" where us normal folks that went to college or work a trade cannot afford to live where we work. The wife and I are in the process of trying to move to somewhere affordable....Oh and most of the people my wife works with that dont have rich husbands/wives live at least 45min + away from where they work.

Of course cost of living is relatively high in the DC area. I'm just saying calling it "the hardest place in the world to liv3 finacially comfortable" is a quite the exaggeration. Plenty of other world-class regions would have something to say about that, e.g. NYC, San Fran, London, Paris, Zurich, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Moscow, Shanghai, etc. etc. etc. It's the cost of being an in-demand area, unfortunately.

I understand what youre saying, but around here salaries for alot of people havent changed or caught up with the cost of living increases.

The author of the article does not know the difference between wealth and income.
