Hello,

We're visiting Rockville/D.C. for the next several days, and it's been a long time since I've found a really great mom-and-pop Italian restaurant -- anyone have suggestions in the Rockville/D.C. area? I know there's a Little Italy section, but I don't know if those are all very pricey? Thanks so much for your help!

Since nobody else replied, I can name one in the Gaithersburg/Rockville area that I used to frequent 20 years ago.

Zio's Italian Restaurant

There was another one in Little Italy that was really great (and inexpensive), but I see that it closed last year.

I'm sorry to say, though, that compared to Chicago, you're probably not going to be impressed.

Zio's is so good! Get the pizza.

There is another place (which I shouldn't post online because I don't want people to go there) called Il Pizzico. It is to die for, seriously. Do not be fooled, it looks like a small average looking storefront or something but it so good.

If you have a car and time, drive up 95N to Baltimore (about 45-1 hour depending on traffic and how fast you want to drive!). Go to Little Italy and eat at Sabatino's.

THE BEST Italian restaurant in Baltimore - been there FOREVER and in the heart of Little Italy.

Worth the $ and the drive and better than anything in Rockville.
