I believe all counties does this on a rolling 3 year schedule? I know in the part of Howard county I'm in, it was done in Dec of 2006. With that, I don't suppose there are any plans to make adjustments given the recent real estate downward slump?

My assumptions is that my assessment was done with the available trending figures at the time.. which was upwards.

Of course, if it was the opposite and they made adjustments in a upward market, I'd balk at the idea.

Just wanted to see what others thought.

From my experience, you have to get your own assement, which will cost from 300-600 dollars and than file the paperwork with the "People's Republic of Maryland." Sorry to be sarcastic, but Maryland is one of the more heavily taxed states in the US and trust me, they will fight tooth and nail not to grant you a decrease in your property tax assessment.

My home in Fulton, MD was assessed in Dec 2007 and I tried to get them to adjust it, saying the home was worth less in April 2008 when they adjusted it (Dec 2007). They denied my request saying it was the correct assessment at the time and that I lived in a new construction area (Maple Lawn Development).
