i'm reading so many poor reports about the well known names. if you had countertops or flooring changed and had a good experience, could you let me know which place you went with?

Stay away from Home Depot and Lowes. Just do a Google search on these companies and complaints. For our carpet and Vinyl we used Everything Floors in Annapolis. You might also try Tidal Bath and Kitchen for countertops.

I brought Hardwood Floors from Lumber Liquidaotors and I'm very happy. I got them installed by an independant contractor. He did a great job and i'm happy. I can PM you his info if you're interested.

We just had our granite countertops installed by AU Granite and Marble. They are in Annapolis and Grasonville. We are very happy with the results.

When we got our kitchen done, we went through a local contractor who used counter intelligence for the counter work. They did a great job - and a neighbor who does commercial contracting said they were good. So maybe worth a look. Also, if you have it, check out angieslist for info. Some of them offer a discount for members (that in itself can pay for the membership).

I used Artistic Granite in Gaithersburg. I got a good price, with the undermount sink and plumbing costs included. The workmanship was very good. My countertops are still looking good two years later, as expected.
