I have to agree. Pretty there on certain streets but over all looks a little made up. That Georgia smile, although friendly, seems a little fake too. I felt like the scenery and people were sort of putting on a show the whole time. Probably not, but it seemed like a village in Disneyland. Maybe I don't understand the south. The genuine feel is part of the beauty and the way Massachusetts changes terrain so naturally, from city to town to beach. I know a lot of people that think the south is really nice though.

I live in Mass and have for 25 years. I think that the winter into spring (before everything turns green) is the most horrid looking and depressing place on Earth. But the rest of the year it is quite pretty round here. That being said, we're moving to GA next month and I was appalled by the miles of strip malls everywhere! I was relieved to return from our house-hunting trip to see the trees!

I was in Georgia and found many parts to be quite beautiful. Along the coastline is really nice and west of Atlanta towards the mountains is really nice. If you don't like stripmalls and subdivisions i can see your point, and i'm not saying those area all great either.

I think different parts of the country offer different scenery. I like the fact Florida is surrounded by the ocean because i love the water, but on the other hand florida is so flat and that makes it lose character. You could drop someone in two different places and they would feel like they were in the same place.

The first snowfall is nice in New England, but from January to April this area is very depressing. I don't think the beaches in MA are as nice as those in RI or ME though.

I have heard this a lot! In AZ, it gets that way in the summer. Locked inside by the heat. Not opening the windows for 5 months. I understand.
