I am searching for a house on a lake where I can water ski. It could be in CT or MA, but I do not want to pay high property taxes like most of NY & NJ. I am looking to spend up to $500,000 but hopefully a lot less. I also hope that it will not be in some very depressed area or that is has a high crime rate.

Any suggestions?

Long Pond in Plymouth? Not sure you can get on the lake for 500K but definitely close and deeded beach rights.

I forgot to say that I also love jet boats (although not a necessity), so 211 acres seems a bit small. Looks like a very nice area but could not find anything in my price bracket though.

great herring pond might be bigger if you are looking in plymouth MA. but there might be a speed limit for your watercraft...like 45mph or something. i'm not familiar with waterskiing so not sure how fast you need to be?

if you aren't too particular about the size of house/no of room/bath...you might be able to find some pond front properties in your price range.

an example is 20 Pokanoket Rd, Plymouth, MA 02360 | MLS# 71192529

there are many many ponds in plymouth....you can look around the area. and the waterfront properties in plymouth tend not to be super expensive.

property tax rate in plymouth is quite high but the home valuations tend to be lower though so it's comparable to other towns with lower tax rates but higher home valuations.

Just realized Plymouth is a bit too far east for me. Marlborough would be ok but I could not find a house on the web. I don't know it, but Worcester City area is ideal as far as being nearer to friends in CT.

How about Webster? Does anyone know it? Due to its size, does it get too rough to ski? Is it near supermarkets, etc.?

Some smaller lakes/ponds absolutely forbid water skiing, or motorized boats, etc. My little local lake allows up to 4 hp boats for fishing, and that's it.
