Im thinking of taking the Cape Flyer from Boston to Hyannis this summer. I already looked at the website so i dont need technical info. I wanted to hear from others who have taken it if it was good or bad? TSights? Crew? Passengers? Also anybody who plans on taking it this summer.

I don't plan on taking it due to 2 reasons:
1) I have a family of 4 and we always fill an SUV to the brim.
2) It's very restrictive once you get to the Cape. How do you get to Chatham from Hyannis without a car? We always spend time in several towns when we're down there and it's impossible to do that without a car.

Now if you are single or just going with your girlfriend/spouse then I can see how the train would make sense. Also if you are staying in Hyannis itself, particularly near Lewis Bay, then the train would also make sense as long as you don't plan on doing anything besides going between your hotel and the beach. Or maybe you are going to meet up with friends at the Cape and they can pick you up from the train station.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for public transportation. I take the train 5 days a week. But it just doesn't make sense for most people to get to the Cape by train.

There was a local news story done on it and people raved. Apparently the club car is a big hit. My mom's neighbor is working as a mechanic for them and said all feedback has been good so far. I would love to take it just to experience going over the canal on the train and to see the scenery but don't have plans to take it yet. I'll be interested to hear your experience. I hope you will share.

Wow, this is the 2nd time I've run into an extremely rude person on these forums lately. I don't know what's going on here. These forums are open for discussion and sharing! There was nothing negative in my post directed toward you, so that 'YOU' in all caps was completely uncalled for.

I agree Parsec. I didn't read anything that was "bad" in your post and I was surprised by the OP's comment. There are a lot of angry people out there and I have been dialing back my contributions to lessen my chances of getting chewed out.
I think the Cape flyer is a neat idea. I haven't taken it but so far many folks have and have reported good things. I'm a train buff and local lines are interesting. When trains ruled 100 years ago there was such a thing as the "Dude Train" that was a semi private train that made fewer stops and delivered business men from Boston to the Cape in record time. A train used to go all the way to Woods Hole and it was a party atmosphere onboard with roaming impromptu musicians. I have experienced this type of thing on a ferry to Marthas Vineyard and it sure was fun. Maybe some talented folks on the Cape Flyer can get a little band going to help speed the journey.

Maybe because ... it was a useless comment. I asked only people who have taken the train or planning to take the train. All was said was that she would never take the train because she drives her SUV everywhere. That comment also misinformed people that there was nothing to do or connect to at the Hyannis train station but "Hotel and Beach". The commenter failed to mention the ferries to the islands as well as Cape Cod Transit.

Thanks Cape Cod Todd.

stuckinsj: I'm sorry you feel that way. I do try my best to contribute to these forums as you can see from my post count and length of membership on these forums. If you don't find the post useful then please ignore it. Please keep in mind this is also an open forum for related discussion; not everyone is here to answer your specific question. Instead of making that comment, you can simply refute it (again, this is a discussion forum) by stating the useful information you provided in the 2nd part of your last post about the ferries and Cape Cod transit. I was not aware of these connecting transit services. Now I can see it being a great mode of transportation if you are going to take the ferry since no one drives on the Islands anyways.
