What are the better private schools in the boston area that are not "elite", meaning they cost less than 15K a year? Are there any that cater to other things than sports?

I'm an MC alum (class of '99). Good school, I miss it and did enjoy my time there. Did well, got accepted to every college I applied to and went on to become an engineer.

They emphasized community service and did have decent athletics, as well as non-athletic clubs.

Just looked and tuition is about $13.5k/year. Ouch. I think I'm gonna call my parents up and thank them for that.

Malden Catholic or Saint Mary's in Lynn would be my thoughts. Also, Cathedral is a diverse, urban option that is off the radar of most, but it has an excellent local reputation and offers great service opportunities, or it did last I heard anyway a couple of years ago.

Wow - I hadn't realized that Malden Catholic was so expensive. I forgot to mention Pope John in Everett - silly because I live here. There is a great new principal there who has a good vision for the school, so that's another one that might be worth checking out.
