Hi,

My husband and I will be moving to the area later this year and are trying to figure out housing options. He'll be working in Brockton, so we'd like something convenient to that. I don't have a job lined up yet, but work in the performing arts.

Affordability and commute-efficiency are the highest priorities.

Any suggestions of what towns to focus on would be great. Quincy has been recommended a few times, and I've come across mixed reviews (on this site and others) about Rockland, Weymouth, and Brockton.

Thanks!

You don't want to live in Brockton unless cost is your absolute number one priority.

If you plan to work in performing arts you will probably need a reasonable commute to Boston, which Quincy would probably provide you, although commuting from Quincy to Brockton can be a little slow during rush hour.

Where are you moving from? A lot of people list affordability as their primary consideration, but if you are moving from a low cost of living area, nothing here will seem affordable.

Quincy, Weymouth, and Braintree would be good options for commuting to Boston, not too bad from there to Brockton

In addition to Brockton, I would avoid Randolph.
