Why is South Grafton looked down upon vs North Grafton or Grafton?

Seems the consensus is: you need to be in Grafton/North Grafton vs South Grafton.

Seems there are a lot of new homes being built there so that puzzles me.

The only advantage I can think of is closer proximity to the train station and major roads. There is also a small downtown in North Grafton. I'm not sure what kind of businesses are there.

Wow, I didn't realize they were already dividing up this town. There's only about 17.5K people living there. I guess it's just human nature. Like 495neighbor, the only reason I can think of is that it's about 5 - 10 minutes closer to major roads. Got me.

Each of those neighborhoods has a different zip code which serves as a natural boundary. I didn't think any one of them was more desirable than the other though. I have a friend who lives in a townhouse in South Grafton. I don't know the town that well, but maybe South Grafton is associated with condos and apartment complexes?

If anything, I'd think it would be the other way around. North side has the pike and the train. More industrial areas. Abuts Worcester.

Yes, but Grafton just barely abuts Worcester. It mainly borders areas more affluent than itself, i.e. Shrewsbury, Westboro, Upton on the north/northeast side. Its proximity to the major roads makes it more convenient. Maybe S Grafton is seen less desirable because it gets associated with the older former mill areas heading towards Northbridge? I don't know. I really don't see the difference. Grafton is a very desirable town and its population growth proves it. I just wonder how the long term residents feel about the way it has grown so fast.

I live in South Grafton. I always thought South Grafton was the better area for residences considering the number of new homes it has. Also, in general the houses and yards tend to be bigger.

That said, its almost everyday I wish my house was in North Grafton because I take the pike into Boston for work (even though 495 then 90 is closer, getting onto masspike at exit 11 is much faster) and also we do most of our weekend grocery shopping in Shrewsbury/Westborough so that's another 10 min overhead each way. But at the same time I know it works out well for folks who work on 495 belt or Worcester/Providence.

We ended up purchasing in South Grafton, MA.

More bang for our buck and 6 months later still happy with our choice.
