As usual, it all depends on what you want.

I guess I would agree about Salem for young people, Gloucester for people like me who love the ocean and unique shops, and nature with no cookie cutter neighborhoods, and Reading, although the area seems somewhat congested to me. Cambridge for people who like really urban settings, yes, but definitely not for me. Lexington does have a lot to offer if that's what you want, Andover is a little bit "too much" as far as I am concerned although it has a real downtown and is affluent.

Personally, I dislike Marshfield, but that's just me. Same for the rest of them. I see they don't like WMass at all because what about Northampton?

Is this a joke? Marshfield #1? Half of the places listed aren't even cities.

It has distance to NYC as one of its factors??? Really?

Maybe the residents of Newton, Wellesley, Weston and Needham should form a protest camp outside the office of Motovo until this atrocious list is rescinded!

Another badly researched piece of journalism, if that is what anyone want to call it. Guess the site needed to throw together a slideshow just to fill an empty space on the page.

The copy editor did a terrible job, and I put zero credence on this "study." Salem is listed as #9, but the body text on the slides says that it's #8. There's two #6 entries and no #7 with no explanation unless you look more closely and see that Lexington and Andover had the same score. A high school student could have done a better job.

I have no idea why they used "The year the city was established (the earlier the better)" as part of their scoring methodology. And "distance from New York City—the further, the better" also makes no sense as a score component.

Makes sense to me, but it says "its proximity to New York City" for Marshfield.

I think the senior mods are going to want to ban this site as a "competitor", although it's really bad competition!

One should never ban a competitor who is stupid and incompetent. In fact, one should egg it on...

In my opinion, Moveto is mediocre at best, and their blogs are shared pretty regularly amongst the facebook crowd... I find their 'information' to sound somewhat recycled, like it was written by somebody who read another blog about a certain area (or perhaps they lurk on the city-data site!) to get information, and then share pictures from various wiki-and Flickr-users to make their 'articles' more believable. That's my take on them, after reading a few New Hampshire based articles (mis-identified pictures, etc). It's amusing, but not great for anyone who is seeing to MoveTo another area based on their information....
