@metalmancpa and @dm84 would your suggestions still be good?
Yes. Although I wouldn't rule out places like Easton either.

Definitely add Easton. Maybe look into Marion if you want something coastal.

Consider Milton. Nice little areas abound, there. Braintree is a possibility. Braintree has too much congestion and pockets of crime adjacent to 600,000 houses. Look before you buy. Those towns are in the top 30 or 50 of the state. I would be wary of Quincy because congestion on the highway would add time. Plus, you could spend time driving to the highway. North Quincy High has better ratings than the school in Cambridge; however, the town is in the top 30 for crime.

Those towns would put you close to the highways. Rhode Island is not a bad drive from there. Route 24 is easy. Route 95 has more traffic heading south in the morning. Yet, Milton or Braintree would allow you to reach Route 3 for the coast and the Cape. You would also be able to take 24 to 495 for the Cape.

Expect to have lots of mileage on your car.

Bill

Milton? That makes no sense. It's north of the northern edge of his territory and is crazy expensive. OP needs easy access to the Cape, and Milton is about as hard a ride down there as it gets. There are far more convenient and affordable areas that would be better suited for OP.

+1 to their suggestions:
Franklin, Wrentham, Plainville, Foxborough, Mansfield, Norton are good choices.

North Attleborough too.

Those would make between Quincy and Providence easy. Not bad to Fall River and New Bedford. Still a bit of a hike out to the cape.

So scratch Sutton. I would definitely look around the 495/95 area - North Attleborough, Mansfield area.

Good luck!
