I'm talking Office Based Intravenous Anesthesia with Local Anesthetic or Hospital/Surgery Center Based General Anesthesia. In other words anesthesia that puts you COMPLETELY OUT for the procedure.

Really, the painless aspect is the most important factor. Of course quality of work and reasonable pricing are very important as well, but I'm more concerned about the pain more than anything. Maybe, I'm just a wuss, but I've been in a dentist's chair for 15 hours one week before and I can just not live through that kind of pain again.

As far as the work needed done I think I probably need root canals, basic cavities and maybe even some implants. They've gotten pretty bad unfortunately and please don't post just to harp on me about them. Trust me they make me feel enough like crap as it is.

I'm south of Boston, but will definitely travel for a dentist that fits the bill.

Thank you in advance to anyone who offers helpful advice

From this I would say you have a fear of the dentist. Don't feel ashamed about your teeth, that's silly. Finding a dentist who will put you out for anything but an extraction or major surgery will be hard, because putting you out is dangerous in and of itself. Not everyone wakes up from it.

I think you should deal with your anxiety about the dentist first. See if you can get some anxiety help from the doctor for your dentist appointment. Maybe some anxiety medication.

I have had extensive dental work and I'll tell you it's simply not bad. Had every tooth drilled on my right side on a weekly basis. The only pain I felt was a pinching sensation when the stick the needle in for the local anesthetic. My wife commented that she had a root canal and it wasn't much worse, no pain.

I will add from googling that many dentists can prescribe for you anti-anxiety medication for the dentist. You take it the night before and the same day as your appointment. Just ask them first if they will do this.

I'm not a fan of my last dentist but they weren't judgmental about my teeth (which needed cavity drilling but not root canals). I had private insurance.

Here's a though, if you go to them and they get judgmental, go to a new dentist.
