Gas heat and hot water costs in Millis, MA area (house, live in)

We recently moved to Millis. We have 2600 sq.ft. house with gas baseboard heating and hot water. Thermostat is usually set on 70. Most recent bill for December came in at $450ish. Just wanted to see what others were paying in the area. Thanks!

You likely live in an older house with poor insulation.

I have forced hot air and spend at worst $150/month with the heat at 67-68 when I'm home and 62 overnight and when I'm out

December wasn't all that cold. You probably have inadequate insulation and perhaps inefficient windows. Have you had an energy audit done by MassSave?

In the meantime, are you setting the temp lower at night - say to 65?

My house is an antique (poorly insulated) and we heat with oil, hot water baseboard. We pay per oil delivery, but I would say our heating costs are about $200 per month usually. We keep our thermostat on 66 when we are home and 60 when we are not home during the day.
