While I have favorite grocery stores I quite often shop for the necessities at the most convenient store even when overall I may not like the store. The question becomes how far out of my way will I go for say OJ and milk......LOL

Market Basket is usually cheaper but their produce can be really crummy. Don't ever buy hummus there either or it will rot in a week. I say usually cheaper because prices have gone up after that family feud ended between the two cousins.

Stop and Shop remains my favorite supermarket: fresh produce, great deals, good atmosphere, and usually good customer service.

I haven't had any of these experiences, and prices have definitely not gone up more than they have overall in stores.

None of them are a Wegman's except for those two Wegmans. Otherwise you're stuck with a MB-Hannaford's quality face off between intangible factors of cold cut turkey - slimy and cheap versus acceptably priced, savory, and real tasting. The other chains exist only because of non-competition clauses and geographic provincialism i.e. areas of the state that don't know any better than shopping at wallet pillaging horror-shows Big Y, Shaw's, S & S.

With all due respect you seem to be a grocery snop. You might want to learn how to shop .If there is any grocery chain that is living on reputation and robbing the customer blind it is Wegman's.

Yeah, its just not that good. I thought it might be the MA ones, but visited one when I was just in Ithaca... and yeah, not that great.

Not my experience at all. Their high volume and constant rotation seems to result in fresher product than most other stores.

Never found that at all. Just goes to show how experiences can vary with many different shopping habits. My one complaint with them is that it's always busy, and the store is a cumbersome design.

Fish and Produce at Market Basket is top notch. Pretty much the opposite of Stop and Shop.
