So this won't be for this year too booked up. But my wife wants to go to to Provincetown and the national seashore with our 3 kids (all under 12) so I'm preplanning for 2019. Looking for a decent spot near to things maybe water front for a 2-3 night stay. A suite would be nice, so far we have always stayed in suites when hotel'ing with the kids (we normally camp) I have found several spots in P-town but prices are getting me down. I was hoping to stay under $400 a night. We tend to be crazy most of the summer so I don't really want to haul a camper all the way for a couple nights.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Just bumping this. I have been looking at Harbor Hotel. Provicetown Inn and Surfside, but finding open dates is tricky even 9 -10 months out.

We’ve stayed at the Crow’s Nest in Truro a couple of times. It is a fast bus ride into P-town (bus runs frequently and fairly late) and is right on the water. You are close to all the good outer cape beaches. The rooms are like small condos and are perfect for families w kids.

Stayed at the Sandcastle in June. Not bad rates and decent enough room. Downtown is a cheap taxi/uber or quick bus ride. Probably 10 minutes by bike or 1/2 hour walking. No frills, but on the beach and nicely situated.

Ptown is expensive in season and it is a party town that really comes alive at night and the reveling goes late into the night which might keep you and the kids up. Have you been to P town before? Are you aware that it is a destination for alternative lifestyle minded people which is fine and fun but it might be a bit awkward explaining to your kids why that man is dressed like little bo peep and leading another man around on a leash who is dressed like a sheep.

During the day these "characters" are at the beach but they come out at night.

It is all in good fun and Ptown has a European vibe to it but watch out you might see some things that cannot be unseen.. LOL

I would suggest as others have to find cheaper accommodations in a nearby town. You will have your car with you so just drive up to Ptown for some fun.

Been there several times but never stayed at night. So maybe staying out of town a bit is preferable.
