Gaps like where? A few short streets at the foot of the Washington Bridge?

The rail trail was proposing aexactly this. then a link to the hyde park River st. section, Which has gotten a great makeover this year. i ride single track on it quite a bit. It's lovely

All else I recall is where it crosses the street in Riverside and you basically just cut across and over.

Why couldn't GE be encouraged to have its headquarters along the Rt. 128 beltway? Or even along I-495? Why add to the congestion on the roads into Boston? And the COL is through the roof in the Boston area! So all the money they might make at GE (and not that GE is all that healthy as a company) is going to go towards housing.

And in this day and age of the internet, they can collaborate with other tech companies by Skype. And wouldn't it be easier for those tech companies to visit them in a location that isn't so congested by road traffic?

I think that GE was looking for a certain "thing" that the Seaport had a unique ability to provide. They are, a special case though, and imho the state ought to be doing far more to lure companies to the 495 belt.

It’s not sustainable to raise babies every two or three years. Especially as other modes of transit are coming online like the electric scooters which Marty Walsh is going to make legal and Uber, via, Lyft, Waze car pool, et Cetera.

Especially before people have seen tangible improvements like new trains at least wait till you replace the orange line-gah damn .

Because young bright talent doesn't want to be out there. They want to be in the core. The choice is to bike or jump on a train or walk to work, or get into a car and drive out to the 495 belt? Yeah. No brainer.

And no, collabs aren't done by Skype (well they weren't 5 or so years ago). I worked with some of the accelerators/incubators around there years back and its very much in person experience for much of it. Agile for other parts. And they can just walk to each other right there.

It's more than that. Have you driven on 128 recently? Nobody can get to work at rush hour unless it's a soul-crushing car drive.

But people still do it:

- had a friend that commuted from your little seaside town to North Reading daily for about 3 years

- know one that has commuted from Kittery, ME to Wilmington for about 30 years

- know another who commutes from Rye, NH to Watertown.

Talk about soul crushing.
