Arrests were made in Randolph, Haverhill, Mattapan ,Roxbury ,Dorchester, Fall River, New Bedford, Worcester, Lowell, Lawrence, Fitchuburg, Lynn, Salem Chelsea, and Springfield- I believe.

With arrests also in Pawtucket Rhode Island, Providence Rhode Island. More arrests were made Enfield, Meirden, New Britain and Hartford Connecticut. A few were arrested in Northern New Jersey as well.

The Latin Kings are a Puerto Rican-based gang founded in Chicago in 1954. They have about 50,000 affiliate members across the country. Their east coast operations are headquartered in Springfield Mass.

It is important to note Massachusetts was recently named the worst state for Latinos to live in and has the widest white-hispanic wealth gap in the United States.

Given the increasing frequency of these sort of gang busts and massachusetts booming latinx population . Real serious efforts HAVE to be made to lift hispanics into the middle class and incorporate them into the civic culture and mainstream of Massachusetts. We need more latino elected officials and more latino police officers first and foremost-and im not latinx, I just think it's obvious..

They need to lift themselves or we need to think about who we let into the US more. Too many other things to do than worry about thugs.

So how are more latino officials and latino police officers going to help?

Like usual, the issue is the generational poverty problem. Poorly educated single mothers living in poverty. In Springfield, 64% of all children have single parents and the majority are Hispanic. New Bedford is 56%. They often attend failed Level 4 and Level 5 receivership elementary schools. The state flings huge money at those schools. The Parker School in New Bedford was the lowest ranked school in the state and went into receivership October 2013. It still has the lowest MCAS scores in the city. Teacher turnover is a huge problem. The government can't fix poor parenting. I think society needs to insist on people getting educated with 21st century job skills before reproducing. Today, there is a perverse reward for being a single mother. You immediately qualify for Medicaid. You shoot to the top of the list for public housing which lands you walking distance from places like the Parker School. It's totally rational to be a single mother. We should be rewarding people for doing it right, or at least trying to do it right. Education. Launch career. Meet someone like-minded. Then reproduce. Not for perpetuating generational poverty.

Um, Puerto Ricans are American citizens. How do you propose to keep them out?

Bridge-The current state of economics makes it pretty unrealistic to lift yourself out of deep poverty, were not really in those times anymore-unless you learn how to code.

GeoffD, you said it yourself people are not rewarded for doing it right. I agree there need sot be somewhat of a cultural reste but we need to ask why is the white latino income gap widest in Massachusetts of all 50 states?THere need to be actual way of economically empowering folks not just giving handout because the handouts cover bare necessities, everything else in life you need something more. Unfortunately it seems that thousand of young men in urban massachusetts see tis as there only option. These busts seems to be coming more and more often.

I think Latino mayors and police officers could offer not only hope and inspiration but get a better beat on things going on locally so we don't need Andrew Lelling every couple months. They could serve as liaisons to the rest of leadership and also inject some stability into the latino community-any bit helps. I mean there's almost no latino leadership in this entire state! Its mind boggling considering there 830k of them here and they have one mayor...I mean name on prominent latino besides the past two mayors of Lawrence...they have zero leadership. Admittedly i don't have all the answers, or even a few of them.

*i forgot to include Peabody in the list

These people were overwhelmingly Puerto Ricans with a few Italians and Black Americans (judging by surname) involved.

Dominicans are their rivals in 'Dominicans Don't Play' and the Trinitarios per the report. They're the only ones we "let in"

Why is their bad behavior supposed to be a problem for someone else to fix?

<sarcasm>Yes, who could see problems with government forcing birth control on specific communities, especially of people of color? That has worked ethically and well in the past.</sarcasm>
