Its definitely primarily about grooming and environment. A lot of times its a generational thing.

Heres a story from 2015 about gang recruitment in/outside of Boston Public High Schools https://www.bostonherald.com/2015/12...zing-students/

The generational culture thing is super prevelanet in Los Angeles where even middle class and upper middle black families will associate or pick a side. They may be far removed form anything violent but they still choose a side if a patriarch or matriarch originated from that culture/area-like a social club. Or if they're family is historically tied to a certain area.

A regular citizen may be from Inglewood CA and meet another person from Long Beach and the first thing they do is sort of like a silent sizing up (false tense) and then it's just smiles and hugs. That's only because being from Inglewood you know hes form a BLood area and probably knows bloods and being from Long Beach you know hes form a Crip area and probably knows Crips-but that neither of you two guys so its all love and it doesn't mean anything to you two. Its like that in MA at all.
*it's not like that in ma at all. Sorry keyboard is messed up/broken

No. As noted by others the gangs referenced are in Nantucket and Hiport. Fortunately local law enforcement shut down that gang. I just added the anecdote about the Kennedy Compound because it is a well known property and people are shocked that kind of activity exists in that area. I’ve even been chastised in this forum for cautioning buyers about Hyannis.

My "other gang" in Hyannis Port reference was to the bootlegging Kennedy clan. I guess humor doesn't work here.
