Have heard some negative feedbcak on Metro-West in Framingham...

Do forum-mates confirm to this feedbcak compared to Emerson / Newton-Wellesley / Winchester?

I've heard lots of good about Newton/W, Emerson, and the new facilities on 128, I know nothing about Winchester. We took DD to Framingham - they told us we were idiots until they confirmed what we told them with poison control. Then they said they couldn't begin treatment as they were short staffed and for us to do it instead (a medical procedure not typical home care) which thankfully as a paramedic I was able to do. I am not a fan of Framingham or UMass Worcester where I know lots of staff and several people who went for major medical treatments and without fail each one was screwed up. I ALWAYS go into Boston. I like Children's, Mass Eye and Ear, and Mass General and thier affiliates along the 128 beltway.

I agree with Pondhopper that Metrowest Medical is not so good. Both my parents had operations there and in both cases pain management was lacking, and my Dad is a pretty stoic person so I know it was bad. They even told us when the nurses couldn't get ahold of a doctor to increase pain meds -- or for that matter diagnose the source of his problem -- "not much happens here on the weekends". I was furious. They were acting like bank tellers instead of medical care practitioners. I switched docs recently because my original one was affiliated with Metrowest Medical. I would not go in there for a procedure given a choice.

Our daughter was born in Winchester, and I can give it rave reviews! - but I guess its not very close to Acton/Westford etc. For those towns, I guess Emerson and Lowell General would be the closest hospitals.

I would recommend Newton-Wellesley Hospital. They also have a pediatric ER for kids, (been there 3 times with my 2yr old son) a pediatric Radiology dept affiliated with MGH.

I had my children there and DH has his hip replace there too.

Winchester has a pediatric ER and a good maternity practice.

Lahey Clinic in Burlington (behind the mall) has alot of specialty services that they have at the Boston hospitals without the downtown hassles.

Yes. Newton-Wellesley. For towns try Newton, Wellesley, Needham, Natick, Weston etc. Do you have a map of the area? The hospital is located on Rte. 16 close to the Wellesley line in Newton.
