Red Sox left-handers Darwinzon Hernandez, Josh Taylor test positive for coronavirus

"Darwinzon Hernandez and Josh Taylor have both tested positive for the coronavirus.

Red Sox manager Ron Roenicke confirmed the results during his Saturday media briefing at Fenway Park.

Hernandez remains at home and will require a pair of negative tests before reporting to Boston. Taylor tested positive during the club’s intake process this week and is being isolated in a nearby hotel room."

"Major League Baseball announced 31 players and seven team staff members had tested positive in a Friday release. The Red Sox were one of 19 teams that had multiple positive tests. Left-handed starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez remains at home after being exposed to someone who exhibited coronavirus symptoms, and he’s still awaiting his test results."

I never really liked David Price, but I very much respect his decision to not play this year.

"Dear Dodgers Nation,

After considerable thought and discussion with my family and the Dodgers, I have decided it is in the best interest of my health and my family's health for me to not play this season. I will miss my teammates and will be cheering for them throughout the season and on to a World Series victory. I'm sorry I won't be playing for you this year, but look forward to representing you next year.

Stay safe, be well, and be kind. And Go Dodgers!

Love,

David Price"

Eduardo tested positive. Another guy did also...infield prospect Bobby Dalbec.

That's now 4 Red Sox players with the virus.

The season starts on Friday night at 7:30 against Baltimore.

There will be 2 spring training exhibition games against Toronto -- tonight and tomorrow at 7:30.

All of the games are on NESN, and tonight's pre-game show is starting now (6:30).

Jerry, Eck, and O'Brien will be doing a three-man booth from the NESN studio in Watertown. Guerin will be doing the sideline reporting "remote".

Apparently the games will have crowd noise taken from the video game "MLB The Show".

It's on now. Mitch Moreland just hit a 3 run homer. Red Sox up 4-0 after the 1st inning.

The crowd noise seems totally normal.

I don't know what just happened. They ended the inning with only 2 outs due to pitch count. Is that because it's an exhibition game or is there a new rule I don't know about?

Because it's an exhibition game. The Yankees and Phillies ended their exhibition game on Monday night after the end of the 9th inning with a 2-2 tie.
