Supposedly, more people have returned to work in the past month, but now we're in summer vacation mode suddenly, so it's hard to judge, perhaps.

I was last on the red and green lines over two weeks ago. I was shocked how empty they were at 5 pm on a Thursday from Quincy and then from Park Street outbound! And not too crowded at 6:30 pm one weeknight from downtown to Quincy. Yikes, I'm almost yearning for a return to somewhat normal and packed trains.

Oh, and I ventured to Quincy Market on its re-opening last Wednesday. Granted it was already 5 pm and they only go until maybe 7 pm or 8 pm now. But not many people there at all. Even the Globe mentioned few were there, at what I assume were the earlier hours. They removed the seating in the dining hall and it seemed kind of eerie. One vendor at West End Strollers said he'd sold 10 sandwiches all day! Or worse, did he mean 10 total orders?

At least Chipyard Cookies was still there and operating!

...

So not anywhere near packed subway and trolley cars at morning or evening rush yet, especially with many Independence Day vacations still in effect?

I can’t imagine they’re packed. Why would they be with so many still working at home ? My mom has been going to work through all of this. She’s a nurse and she will not take the train as she used to. She has my dad drive her. Lucky him. But he said there’s no traffic.

Yes my entire workplace is still working from home and all its customers are doing business that way as well.

I do have to go in next week but it is so dead on the roads and parking I will be driving in - not taking the usual train.

I'm all for public transit but given everything the last thing I want to be around would be a packed train or bus.

Blue line, green line and orange line are all nowhere near the usual crowds of the past. Social distancing has been easy. The parking lot and garage at Wonderland station has been empty, usually by 9am the large parking lot is full and you would have to park on the roof of the garage. Personally, I hope it stays this way through the summer.
