Yep. Section 8 investors killed those well kept owner-occupied multi family neighborhoods. You’re guaranteed your rental income. When they move out, you’ve already priced the crew coming in to shovel out the unit and repair everything into the rent. The owners sell out to the investors and flee to the suburbs. You never see the vovós out sweeping the sidewalks.

Ogil's is still hanging on and serving awesome food. Corky Row Club is somehow still around too (I've never understood the appeal). I always take people from out of town to Ogil's. The food is good and the dated little hole in the wall restaurant in the middle of a not so great residential neighborhood is sort of surprising. They also Estoril isn't in a residential neighborhood, but it's a got an old world elegance in the middle of the Flint (short walk from this latest incident). New Bedford has the Roasted Pig which is on Nash Rd. about a block of off North Front which is one of the worst places in the city. But yeah, there aren't many of these left and once they're gone, they're not coming back.

The Roasted Pig is a block north of the Feast grounds. That’s one of the worst places in New Bedford?

North Front St. is notoriously bad (remember this?). I love the Feast (and the Roasted Pig for that matter), but I've never heard anyone claim it was in a good or even OK part of town. I've defended New Bedford to a fault sometimes on this forum, but that area is definitely toward bottom of the barrel for the city.

"FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway after a man was shot and killed during an altercation with police in Fall River Monday evening.
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said the incident occurred inside a first-floor apartment on Melville Street.
Officers initially responded to a home on Lowell Street for reports of a past domestic incident, according to Quinn.
Quinn said the victim, identified only as a woman, told the officers Anthony Harden, 30, had assaulted her on Saturday afternoon while she was inside a Melville Street apartment.
After speaking with the victim, Quinn said the officers went to the apartment to speak with Harden.

Quinn said after the officers spoke with Harden, an altercation ensued.
During that altercation, Quinn said one of the officers shot Harden. Harden was rushed to St. Anne’s Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Quinn noted that it appeared Harden had a knife on him at the time of the incident, but did not specify whether he threatened the officers with it."

CORKY ROW, again.

Shots fired at Second and Wade streets.

3 arrested after gunshots fired in Fall River

https://www.wpri.com/news/local-news...in-fall-river/

"FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Police have arrested a man suspected of shooting a gun during a fight Wednesday morning in Fall River, along with two women accused of helping him after the fact.
Around 10:15 a.m., police responded to the city’s Corky Row neighborhood for a report of a shooting in the area of Second and Wade streets.
Detectives learned there was a confrontation between three men, according to police, and at one point, two took off running while the third took out a gun and opened fire. Police said it appeared there were no injuries.
Police found out the gunman entered a nearby store, which had a sign on the door saying it was closed. They arrived to find two women standing outside: Stephanie Micklos, 34, who owns the business, and her friend, Alison Dill, 37. Both were taken to the police station to speak with detectives.

Kayvon Ashton, 36, was then arrested on outstanding warrants after leaving the business a short time later. Police said they searched the property and found a loaded handgun with an extended magazine.
After gathering more evidence, it was determined that Ashton fired the gun and the two women misled detectives during the investigation, according to police."

And what's this guy doing with his hand?

Small potatoes compared to that pretty nasty double homicide that took place a while back a few hundred feet up the road at 230 2nd St.
