Loved those stores when growing up in MA (Waltham). What happened to them corporate wise? Seems at their peak they had over 100 stores. When googling I get hits on a variety store in Lowell, some old photo of actual Kennedy Stores, etc but nothing on what happened to the company.

Thanks for any info.

I don't know but they had the best American cheese I've ever had. My parents used to go to the one in Natick.

Wouldn’t Kennedy stores sell nothing but booze?

If the Kennedys sold booze, there would be nothing left to sell.

To quibble, Joe Kennedy was the Dewars and Gordon’s gin exclusive importer when prohibition ended. He sold a lot of booze. His father owned a saloon and imported alcohol before prohibition. JFK didn’t drink much. Teddy? Well, sure.

Default Kennedy Butter and eggs Stores Massachusetts 1948

I grew up in Medford MA. Remember going to Kennedys for butter, eggs,
coffee and cheese! The smells eminating from shop were heavenly!

They had the best fresh ground peanut butter!

We had to walk about 3 miles to get there!
They were in a small section of stores!

In 1955 Stop and Shop became first supermarket and
Kennedys was gone but not forgotten!

They still make money on every bottle sold.
