The only thing that surprises me about these lists is that people put stock in the rankings for anything other than a modest impact on property values in those towns.

The bottom 6 are all in Boston. 8 of the 10 worst are in Boston.

Chelsea is 7th worst and Lynn English is 8th worse.

Clearly isnt all tied to real estate values.

Seemingly the same Top 10-20 every year.

I do wonder why/how the rankings shift YoY other than to be able to sell new copies of the list. I can understand gradual increase/decrease in test scores, but the sociodemographic and faculty/staff at these schools don't just drastically change over night.

I hate that I'm even interested in looking at lists like this...

Interesting to see D-S which has been at the top for years fall to 9th. I’m imagining that’s why their superintendent “retired” after less than 4 years on the job.

Thinking people in Lynnfield, and Needham are similarly unimpressed.

People who've lived in the area for less than 10 years, and real estate agents.

Lynnfield was #13 last year, a drop to #48 in one year seems a bit incredulous.

Their metrics are at least 'better' than Great Schools / Niche, which apply all sorts of weighting to obfuscate the obvious: buy in the highest income district you can afford which has a high percentage of two parent households.
