Not really. I still think this money is peanuts compared to many other illegal financial situations happening in the country today. There are people getting more money than this in drug deals everyday. This is pocket change for many Bostonians.

The thing is that as we all know, realistically general society cannot be held to a very high moral standard. I expect a lot more from one in a position of public trust, than a drug dealer or other criminal.

How about a CEO who pays his employees crap while he takes everything? I would say that's the biggest problem we have in our country today and it's not getting better. Only worse.

There is no legal requirement that the CEO pays his employees any more than the federal/state minimum wage. Given the severe labor shortage going on, I imagine some of these CEOs will be forced to bump up compensation (as we have started to see with all these hiring bonuses, etc.) if they still want to get the job done. That is how the system is supposed to work.

If the CEO steals federal funds to pay his employees he should go to jail. what are grasping at here?

msRB311 talks herself into progressive compensation and tax structures while doggedly defending criminal police. Love to see it.

That is generally the way the market system is supposed to work. I'm not sure that it's supposed to work this way when the labor shortage is in large part because the government is giving taxpayer's earnings to people so they don't have to go to work.

I would agree with this assessment. I think the current labor shortage for low skill labor is largely artificial thanks to the Covid-related unemployment benefits. Labor shortages in markets like the trades, UX/dev, etc. will likely be sustained and income gains more permanent.

Another public servant pleads guilty to his crimes. Glad to see so many criminals being brought to justice. Likely many more if they have the resources to keep digging.
