I guess you and I have a different idea of what constitutes a "big lot". I did a search at 1/2 acre+ on Zillow and max budget of $3m and didn't find anything:

Even down to 1/4 acre there are only a handful of options. Realistically 1/4 is plenty big for most people, but not where my head would go when someone asks for a "big lot".

Yea of course. I’m just looking at houses with a bit of room for those areas. I get what your saying , I thought OP might think that’s a big lot compared to something in NYC. Some of these homes have significant backyards that I’d consider more than adequate for kids to run around in.

I think you can find something you’d like in Winchester. Big houses, can get a nice lot, drive or train to Boston in 45 min (peak rush hour - Significantly faster at other times). Great schools and increasingly Asian population (though, by no means close to a majority). Plenty of stay at home mum’s with corporate dad types (also many dual career families too). It’s not a huge town so not always a perfect selection of housing inventory though - not sure what your timing is. Here are some options:

And some recently sold, to get a sense of other options if you wait:

This is a family of 4 (2 parents, 2 kids). Why would they want a 6 bed, 6 bath McMansion?

I guess perception is everything. For my a big lot has to be at least 5 acres, but I don't live in greater Boston.

For diversity plus space need plus school plus car commute to Boston, I say Lexington. Big Asian community and nearby Burlington (which also has a strong Indian community).

Yeah that was my first thought.

Lexington is really the mecca for schools x diversity x relative proximity to 95/Cambridge/Boston x plenty of space.

Thank you all for your help. I will be researching all the areas suggested here. Although it seems my husband really seems to like Sherborne for its home (lot size)and public schools.

My daughter lives in Sherborn. Nice town. I believe her next door neighbor is Indian (the wife).
