Wow, the NBA just finished its past season not long ago....and now the Celtics' opener is December 23....next week!

Seems that early in the pandemic, most "experts" said most fans and even non-sports fans were eager for any type of live competition, any sport. But as we know now, basketball and hockey opened to strong tv ratings but then tv ratings plummeted to shocking lows, even in the finals.

Yes, it can be blamed on basketball and hockey being played way out of season and competing with the NFL which they of course don't compete with in their normal playoffs in June.

It'll be interesting to see how the tv ratings are this season especially at the beginning; at least this time of year is officially basketball season and Christmas day games next week are the norm nowadays.

And a condensed schedule from 82 games to maybe 72 or so games makes the games a bit more important, especially for teams starting poorly.

But the games will be played generally amongst the same teams in the conference, which may get monotonous -- or it could boost interest with more familiarity of the players. Plus, no late night tv games to harm tv ratings, with all games at a decent viewing time.

I'm not a basketball fan, but just wondering.

I've heard the Celtics are considered in the top 5 but not championship material. One radio pundit the other day claimed they're not as good as last year. (Gordon Hayward is gone, plus Kemba Walker is hurt.)

I'm interested to hear what Celtics fans think about this year's squad. Too early to get excited for another season when the last one just ended?

Maybe the Kardashian gal and her Celtics hubby/boyfriend (?) adds extra intrigue for some, as the media is already reporting where they've been spotted eating.
