I guess it depends on what you mean by “connected.” As someone who commutes to downtown Boston, Revere is generally much better connected than Everett. Even the western part of town is right on Route 1. As a commuter, I’d choose Revere. However, Everett definitely has better access by car to the bulk of the metro for shopping and other activities.

I don’t think Everett has a significantly better reputation either. Both places are generally considered average. I guess the worst of Everett isn’t as bad as the worst of Revere, but overall I think the reputations are similar. West Revere is nearly identical to most of Everett.

We looked at Revere around Wonderland, Revere Beach, and Beachmont. There were a few options that were appealing, but for the money East Boston (Jeffries Point) made more sense given the proximity to downtown. It’s still early, but I feel we made the right call. We wouldn’t have saved a lot of money/gotten more for our money had we chosen Revere; and even during the pandemic the location has been excellent.

Still not impressed with just words I looked into East Boston and Winthrop and saw crap for big dollars already. I even went back to Watertown and Waltham to look too but all high already many houses over a million. Wanted to see the lower cost 600-700k ones again in those western burbs but she held me up and said "yeah, they are good investments too and we can look at a few but no way at the Revere rate will they climb" and explained it is due to the massive amount of city infrastructure changes and money pouring in for business development starting with Amazon and now moving very rapidly with other techies in Revere. I called more realtors and loan officers for opinions and they all jumped on Revere. I guess this is the real deal now...

Thoughts?????

Realtor A doesn't want to be bothered so they passed you onto Realtor B.

I don't think now is the time to buy anything, its all overpriced just like 2007 except with no eviction mandates (not ideal for a landlord).

My buddy is a builder, his one liner is "you can fix up a house but you can't fix up a neighborhood!" Lynn/Revere have been bad for 50+ years so why would you think Amazon hiring for $15 an hour is going to change that?

As I said, Revere has that sense of isolation in that both the Tobin and tunnels have tolls. Revere (some areas of it) has the advantage of the T if one is commuting that way to Downtown Boston, but that appeal has its limits. Everett you just have more options, and to more places (like you said). And no I (personally) haven't heard Everett being mocked in the same sense, as Revere over the years. Perhaps a little scrappy, but overall fairly neutral. Revere just seems to have a harder time shedding its old stereotypes.

Yes but that takes generations, not just a few years.

I wouldn't say it takes generations, maybe a couple of decades?

Yeah, it can happen in 15-20 years easily. And it doesn't have to happen through an entire city/town uniformly.

I like Eastie, esp. JP. I think you made a great choice.
