Hi, I am new to the country, moving to Hartford CT for work. I am by myself but may have my adult nephew staying with me off and on. Looking for a safe place to live, well connected by public transport, with a few grocery stores close by. I am Indian and would love a diverse multicultural neighbourhood. Looking for an apartment 900-1600$ with a garage. I would need to travel to New Britain for work. Looking forward to suggestions.

Probably better off asking in the Connecticut forum.

Georgina, is there a reason you want Massachusetts over Connecticut? I am planning a relocation from NYS to CT and when I first started looking, almost everyone said they heard CT is too expensive. I am here to tell you - all three states, MA, CT, NY have very expensive areas - and very affordable, SAFE areas.

What is your budget? Will you be using public transportation to commute to work? To go from MA to the Hartford area of CT could mean a lot of rural area in btween. Maybe look at Southwick or Westfield in MA, but check out the areas in CT around Hartford...I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Hi Bridgerider,I am looking at CT, I just posted in the wrong forum
I have re-posted in the CT forum. Thank you for your inputs and yes I would like to use public transportation, at least for the first few months.

I think you will love New England! I'm a Colorado native ( a beautiful state), but the northeast has a unique charm that is very welcoming. Good luck in your search!
