I live in downtown hartford and am taking a full-time job in New Britain. Does anyone have an idea of the AM and PM traffic? Will I be going with or against the grain? How long will it take me? Most importantly, will I be pulling my hair out?!

Thanks in advance

Very easy commute. Against traffic for the most part. Short drive.

LOL

OP: Super easy commute. Depending where you live and where are going you can even take some side roads if you get bored.

It is about 12 miles from Hartford to New Britain. It should take you about 20 to 30 minutes. Jay

I live in New Britain and commute to Hartford every day. In the morning you will be fine going to work.

In the afternoon, most days, traffic is at at stand still on 84E from exit 44 stright through to the Tunnel. I look at that traffic every day and just wonder why... and thats at 3:45 before "rush hour" even starts at 4:00.

My suggestion is somthing that I have done before starting a job in a new place or after moving. Drive your commute a few times before you start. Leave your house when you normally would to see if you need to give yourself some extra time. In the afternoon drive the same route.

If you are worried about the traffic you could always take rt 9 north out of New Britain, take exit 29 for rt 175 (Cedar St) and follow that all the way to the Berlin Turnpike and take that north to I-91. Ive taken that way a few mornings when traffic was REALLY bad on 84 and it takes about 20 minutes to go that way.
