I recall Hampton beach of NH has a casino that closes every day at 1am. Just a few years ago, the maximum bet allowed was $5 for blackjack, and pennies for slot machines. I have not been there for years so I am not sure if it has changed, but that is a way to reduce the harm, but still let people have some fun. Particularly, restricting open hours can be very helpful.

Most countries in the world ban casinos for good reasons.
I completely agree. Casinos are fool's gold. They redistribute money mostly from poor people to the government and to casino companies that are often shadowy and connected to organized crime.

Governments that are addicted to spending ever more money love casinos because it gives them additional cash flow. Connecticut did the same thing in the early 90s by allowing casinos, saying they would solve the state's chronic fiscal problems. The state spent all the casino money and then some. It's always the same.

And many of the problem gamblers in casinos are gambling with the mortgage or rent money. Casinos create a lot of social and addiction problems.

Casinos bring in big money for the state. That's why they are allowed, not so people can "have some fun".

Learn to control yourself. You lost a week's paycheck.

Casinos are a boil on society. The gambling industry is all the more so. (Gaming is what people do when they play Monopoly, Risk, and Settlers, et cet.)

Blaming the gamblers is one thing, and closing the casinos is another thing. Both are legitimate.

It's water over the dam by now. How do you UNbuild casinos? I was even against lottery tickets when they started that. CT just started some sort of online sports betting. It just makes money for the states while it hurts people.

There are many addiction-prone people who can't help themselves and they lose their money. I know one--as soon as he got paid it was off to the casino. Couldn't pay his condo fees and his brother had to take over handling his money. It preys on the poor and those who tend to have addictive personalities. These people don't have the money for this and they usually don't know it. They keep thinking--This time! This time I will win!

We keep voting it down in my state because it’s just another source of human misery. I notice that MA has the trifecta now....booze, pot and casinos. I’m happy to go to Las Vegas once in awhile, but that’s close enough for me.

Casinos are fine and really help put the area. Whats not fine is people getting mad they made poor decisions and wanting them banned.

Mass has pot and casinos. Booze!? Its still ilegal to give a two for one lol. MA is very progressive, but very conservative in a lot of views like liquor unfortunately.
