Living in north of Boston I have never visited this museum. Anyone familiar with it, is it worth a visit. There is an exhibition going on right now, Love Stories a collection of art by several artistes including David Hockney. Looks interesting so we plan to go. Looks like they have good parking. First Sunday is free admission every month.
What is the area where it is located like around Lancaster, Salisbury, Tuckerman streets?
Any recommendations for good lunch places around there would be nice.
Thank you.

It's pretty good, not great. It's got good exhibits. They took almost all of the arms and armour from Higgins Armory

On a Sunday? That's tougher, about everything downtown is closed on Sundays.

Unfortunately, most of the Higgins Armory collection is in storage and has been for some time. A few pieces are randomly dispersed throughout the museum but the majority is packed away waiting for funding to then build a new wing to house it. Sadly one of the world's best and biggest collection of medieval armor will have been hidden away for years.

There are a few restaurants just a few blocks over by WPI on Highland Street - The Boynton, Sahara (Lebanese/middle eastern) and the city's best seafood place - Sole Proprietor.

Too bad it's winter. Had it been warm, I'd have suggested to the OP to bag a picnic lunch and sit out in one of Worcester's numerous beautiful outdoor parks instead.

The Sahara has closed and The Sole is closed on Sundays. Deadhorse Hill is close by https://www.deadhorsehill.com/. As is Armsby Abbey https://armsbyabbey.com/ Both are open Sundays. There are tons of choices on Shrewsbury Street and in The Canal District including the Worcester Public Market where you can try a little of everything.https://www.worcesterpublicmarket.org/ If you go to the marketplace antique/craft shopping downstairs at Crompton Collective is always a good time. Crompton Collective
All of this and lots more restaurants in The Canal District are open Sundays.

Thank you so much. Lots to do and explore . Sad Sahara is closed, as many good ones are closing.

I love the Worcester Art Museum, personally. Some really excellent exhibits, including a stunning Byzantine mosaic. I am very happy they have acquired the Higgins Armory collection and that it's staying in Worcester. Here's hoping they can open an Armory wing soon! More info on the collection can be found here.

Also, growing up in Central Mass, it was so impressed by WAM's community efforts. So many opportunities for arts-interested young people such as myself.
