Best of luck with whatever you decide.
I would say both have a very "anywhere USA" neighborhood feel to them, with the obvious exception being Beverly Farms.

But Beverly's downtown is expansive, and has been the focus of multiple Boston chef's for sister restaurants and bars. It has a nice little feel to it, as it's gotten a heck of a lot prettier over the last decade.

Beverly - no question! I love the NorthShore and the SouthShore/Cape! Ocean towns-coastal is the best!

Whenever I play around with zillow I am always impressed by the architecture of the houses in Beverly. It seems like you can get a great turn-of-the-last-century place for less than other comparable parts of the state. I know that is not one of your stated priorities, but it could be a silver lining. My vote goes to Beverly

I'm not sure what your budget is, but I love this place:

Needs a little updating, but it is a 7 min walk to a train station

Thank you all for your answers thus far! It is super helpful. I agree, Beverly just has so much of what I'm looking for... it's a great spot.

I also love looking around on Zillow. It's out of my budget but that place is stunning! And a 7 minute walk from the train? That's incredible.
