So some updates:

My place is even more comfortable now. I do notice a slight uptick in the last few bills, but I am basically keeping the entire unit between 67°F and 70°F 24/7. This is to be expected. No mechanical issues or vibrations from the outdoor unit.

My partial rebate won't be mailed until the middle of February according to the woman on the phone who I spoke with yesterday. I submitted the rebate the first week of November. I am sure there is a big backlog of rebates.

Some odd stuff also worth mentioning. My contractor still has not cashed the heat loan check as well as my own check. Both checks were mailed certified at the end of October. Install was done the first week of November. Contractor said he got them, and the tracking number said he signed for them. I also received an invoice stating payment was received in full.

I called the credit union where I got the heat loan and they confirmed he has not cashed the check yet. I checked my account history at my credit union and he did not cash my other check as well. I made copies of both checks before I mailed them.

I reached out to him last week and he said he might have lost them. He's going through his stuff this week and will get back to me. I thought maybe he was waiting until 2023 to cash the checks because if he cashed them in 2022 maybe that would put him over a certain income bracket and he would end up paying more taxes. Nope, probably lost the checks.

I told him if I needed to reissue both checks a stop payment would need to be placed on the checks that were lost. Fee is typically $25 per check, then the time to fill out that paperwork, get new checks, and mail them again certified. I told him I would take $100 off for this inconvenience.

He agreed it was reasonable. Hopefully he finds these checks and everything gets sorted out. The work was very good and he was extremely professional. I want him to get paid. I can only do so much though.

I have never had to issue a stop payment before... Hope I can keep it that way.

Business must be really good for him if he didn't contact you to inquire where the payment was or to ask if you can re issue it (if it was 'lost').

Exactly what I thought. He paid for materials, spent half the day doing the install, and had to pay the electrician as well.

He somehow did not do the easiest thing, cash the checks. Most financial institutions offer a mobile app where you can cash the check by signing it and taking a picture of the front and back.

I don't know...

Some point I am just going to give up.
