I saw it on tv last night and was interested because I'm familiar with both towns, Longmeadow where it happened, and Hadley where the crazy lady came from with the bees. I read another article that said they had been trying to evict the person for a few years. Then I looked up the street and it looks like an apartment building but apparently it's a gigantic house worth well over a million $.

None of it makes sense. Why would someone own a house that expensive with (multiple bedrooms and bathrooms) to rent it out? Longmeadow is a wealthy residential town and has never been known for rentals. Also, who would want to rent a house like that? Who would rent it and get evicted too? I'd love to know the backstory on this one.

I was at the live taping of "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" in Boston last night. This story provided much mirth and fodder for the panelists (and the audience)!

Western Mass News is digging deeper into the removal of Alton King from his Memery Lane house.

Grace Ross with the Massachusetts Alliance Against Predatory Lending said that the eviction of King was unlawful.

Apparently the person being evicted is the owner??? Huh? The house is gigantic and looks more like a building. The article says something about bankruptcy but if the person didn't have millions of $$ to spare why did they ever build it? Why not just buy a nice, normal house? Longmeadow is full of gorgeous homes for half that price, some even less. It's a really pretty town with old mansions and lots of historic homes, areas that were beautifully planned from back in the early part of the 20th C, and lovely custom built homes from the 1950s era.
Why jump in and build anything when there's already so much to choose from.

Maybe wasn't paying the mortgage and was being evicted by the lender? Btw, the house is ugly.

I had no idea on the house part situation. That is a weird looking house. Too big and unattractive. I don't imagine it would be easy to sell.

The bees probably ended up dead shortly after.

It was foreclosed upon in 2018 and once before in 2006 with the same owner.

That sounds like what it is then.
