Tuition aid to illegal immigrants falters - The Boston Globe think this was great to help stem the flow of illegals in MA. Every little bit helps.

Hmmmm.....let's see, break the law, come to this country illegally and be rewarded. Yeah, that makes sense. On top of that, Patrick has been whining about how broke the Commonwealth is and how he's just going to have to raise taxes, turnpike tolls and whatnot to make up a shortage (a shortage that most of us were unaware existed under Romney).

Maybe he came to his senses, but it was probably more like Obama asked him to do it since it's widely known they are friends and something like this will only hurt Obama's chances at becoming President.

If Gov. Patrick has to raise taxes it's because the cities and towns have been starved for 15 years. The state's infrastructure is a mess, many schools are broke, services have been cut.

The state had a line of succession of republican governors who lowered taxes too much and now the chickens are coming home to roost. Patrick will be one of the most successful governor's Massachusetts has ever seen, and the only decent governor since William Weld (who was pretty good despite being a Republican).

What about the fact the Mass state congress refuses to reduce spending, especially wasteful pork projects and they give themselves a raise every year. Raising taxes only hurts the hard working people in MA and also drives businesses away which further reduces revenue for the state.

"The state's infrastructure is a mess, many schools are broke, services have been cut."

How much of this is due to town-rule vs how other states handle it, e.g. at the county level?

Salaries are typically higher closer to the top of any institution. So with each town requiring admininistration and thus higher salaries, wouldn't it save a lot of money to consolidate many town-level administrations to a few county-level ones? It's not necessarily ideal, but maybe a step in a better direction.

The state has been divesting county government under Republicans.

Massachusetts towns have historically always had independent town governments and that will never change, except for some regional schools, or bilateral town agreements on police and fire.

Some towns have legally binding charters for mayoral government, others for select boards, town managers, etc. It would be impossible to consolidate a town with a mayor into a town with a select board.

Sorry, state legislature. My point being that MA has been controlled by one party for a very long time, but you blame republicans. I'm not saying the republican governors we had were great, but they had very little power and to blame a party that is the minority in this state for the state's problems doesn't make any sense.

Now, I'll go back to my crackpipe just for you.

Just another example of WHY the commonwealth is able to support the loony politics that are the norm here....

If what Gov. Patrick has said bothers Obama then it won't help his sanity to know that today's Boston Herald headline on Page 5 reads, "Junket City on your Dime." The story tells of the Gov and his staff spending $488 per night in swank hotels He just came back from China and is leaving for Israel. He attended a five day conference and spent $80,000. One staffer stayed at an $815 per nite room at the Mariott San Diego to total $36,000 for the Gov and Staff. The China trip totaled$382,000 dollars. Obama voted present 140 times in his short stay (first term) but Patrick doesn't have to...he is never present in this state. He wrote a book of course the same place Random House like Obama. When he campaigned, we heard the same "whining" as Obama's about his childhood and what a history making day his election day would be....it certainly was, he immediately replaced the governor's car to a high priced cadillac, bought $12,000 of drapes, over $50,000 for new rugs, and has added over 2,000 new state jobs to our already bloated state government. MOst likely his friends as many employees received the "re-apply letter." Just so you'll know Gov. Patrick is one of Obama's national co-chairs and is never in this state and like Obama had no executive experience when he took office. He owns two multi million dollar homes, has a lucrative law practice and so does his wife who is an attorney working for a prestgious Boston law firm. Oh yes, he hired a $72,000 secretary for his wife as Mrs. Patrick "didn't know they would have such a busy agenda." We screamed loud enough and the secretary found another job, hopefully in the private sector.I don't think you can find anyone in Mass. willing to tell you they voted for this fraud. We all know he is waiting for the Washinton call from Obama. In the meantime, Patrick announced he is trying to find a way to give the illegal alien college bound kids a way to tap into the tuition remission program without legislative approval. He acts like "The One." Obama and Patrick want us to feel safe under their leadership when their actions towards illegals means they will work to secure our ports and leave the back door (border) wide open. Obama and Patrick will make greatbook-ends. These guys are disciples of One World Government. Robin Hoods who want to tax us and like Obama said in Berlin, America will do more for the world!!!!! God Help the Nation!
