I'm considering moving to central Mass. Though I'd be going there single, and not knowing many people; it'll take time before I truly feel at home.

Is it still feasible to socialize during the winter? Even if there are less outdoor events, there are still indoor meetup groups, bars/clubs, hobby shops, etc. Do people still attend those or do they stay at home and be hermits?

Well yes I mean...the boston area isn't exactly a winter city like say Montreal or Berlin. However if you check places like facebook and meetup there's probably events.

You ask very vague questions that will elicit ambiguous respones. Central MA is a large area. What may be a certain lifestyle in Worcester or Northampton may be very different from less populated areas. Your personal lifestyle and personality will also drive the feasibility of socializing.

One of the main reasons I stay on Facebook is because it’s how I hear about a lot of local events. It’s a great resource.

There are events that happen in the post-holiday timeframe. I wouldn’t say they’re as common as the warmer seasons, but there is usually things going on, especially if you’re close to larger towns/cities. And there is usually always something going on in Boston on any given weekend.

I speculate OP is coming from a state like CA or TX. Friends I grew up with that have never left CA also think that i) anywhere that isn't a big city is the sticks and ii) when it's cold it must snow all the time and that everything must shut down.

Interesting. I do notice a lot less people out and about around Boston correlating with minor changes in weather during the colder months. I anecdotally attribute some of that with a higher number of transplants from warmer climates. It also seems people are much more timid to harsher weather since covid.

No. Everything shuts down. You better have your wood chopped and stacked, your root cellar filled, and you cod salted / meat smoked before the first major snowfall or otherwise they may only find your remains in the spring.

Hell, i'm busier in the winter with activities and such. Only reason I slow down in the summer is because I prefer to sit on my deck with beer in hand and watch my grass grow. Since I can't do that in the winter, out I go.
