Electric - $306 for 929 kwh. Last year $144 for 586 kwh.

I did a side by side with my gas bill from a year ago and compared my current bill to the new announced rate. The cost per therm went up ~ 20% from a year ago. The rate for my last gas bill is a bit higher than the new announced rate so my bill will go down slightly. It’s nowhere near as bad as I was expecting.

I’m locked to my electric rate for generation for another year through December 2023. My town put me in the aggregation program. $0.10470 per KWH. I presume the transmission part of the bill will go up some. I recall I’m around 22 cents per KWH plus a $10/month fixed charge now.

I’m gas-everything so I don’t have much of a winter electric bill. I’ll have 3 months of expensive gas bills but my house has new windows & doors and the exterior walls were gutted and insulated so my heating bill isn’t as bad as most people.

This is also with keeping LED XMas lights on a tree and some outside for about 6 hrs each night since mid November.

Similar increases as you...

Compared to a year ago, both Eversource:

Gas: $2.30/therm vs. $1.77/therm - 30% increase
Electric: $0.28/kwh vs. $0.24/kwh - 16% increase

Electric: $0.18/kwh. Municipal electric. Latest bill was $52 for 369 kwh (with some autopay discounts applied) which is up an average of $3-5 over this time last year. Unfortunately I cannot look up the rate from last year.

Gas (National grid): $2.42/therm vs $1.91/therm a year ago. Latest bill was $233 for 96 therms

A lot of these numbers are also relative to the size of the house, condo, how old it is and what insulation, if any there is. I have a feeling many folks go out and buy these Mcmansion type homes and don't feel the pain in their wallets until they start getting their utility bills (especially during the winter season). Some can brag about their Mcmansion while others can brag about their low overhead!

Better to look at per unit energy for this reason.
