If you were wondering if Marty might come back and try for some other political gig here if Biden loses... there's your answer.

I'm sure this pays better.

It pays a whole lot better - $3 million a year. He is going to work day to day from Boston and will travel to Toronto as needed.

Howie Carr would call that a "golden parachute."

Default re

Bizarre. You'd think this job would go to someone who played hockey but apparently you just have to have union experience

Presidents of the union are often a current or former athlete. They are the face of the union. The executive director (Walsh’s new job) does the work of negotiating, advising, running the union. They are usually attorneys or labor professionals.

Does he still have the Victorian on Butler Street in Dorchester? If so, will he still live there?

I recall the Globe did a cover story when he bought it, with a photo of the house. Was it $600,000 or so back then? Laughably cheap vs. now, right?!

I think he had a constant security presence in the driveway there.

I do recall photos or mentions of him at some Bruins games over the years, so I guess he's a hockey fan. Not sure if he played in high school or earlier. I don't believe he played hockey at Boston College, at least not on the varsity team.

Not to get too gossipy here, but I think he's not married, but has a long-time galpal or fiance?

It's his long time girlfriend. There was a man shot and killed by police in Weymouth who happened to be the father of Marty Walsh's longtime girlfriend's daughter.

He's also been shot, had cancer and is a recovering alcoholic:

I wonder how long he's been sober for. I'm happy to get gossipy.

I think they still have the place in lower mills. He went to BC part-time/nights as far as I know, so I don't think he was playing hockey for them. He got sober after getting tossed out of a Bruins game in the 90s. He's traveled a tough road and has done well for himself.
