Planning a visit with the family and will be staying in the Burlington area. After a day of seeing the sights I'm thinking it might be fun to see a movie. I've been reading some pretty negative review about the movie theaters in the area though. There must be at least one out there that isn't completely run down. Prices suck for the most part, I've come to grips with that. But what about a nice, stadium seating theater that isn't neglected? Anything between Burlington and Salem that someone can recommend? Thanks in advance.

There's a Showcase Cinemas in Woburn right on rt 128 (Between Burlington and Salem). I haven't been there in a few years, but don't remember it being "run down". In fact can't think of any theater in the area that I'd call "run down". They're new, or have been completely remodeled in the past 10 years or so.

Showcase Cinemas | Cinema De Lux | Multiplex Cinemas

That's actually the one I was leaning toward. It had the best of the mixed reviews for theaters. Guess those reviews are pretty subjective but good to know there's one nearby that sounds pretty good. Thanks for the quick response.

Why not catch a show at the Somerville Theater in Davis Square? Prices are cheap ($6 before 7PM, I think) and the place has some real history. None of the theaters are nice, but the main stage is interesting. Oh, and they serve beer ($5 a pint), popcorn, and ice cream.

I prefer the theaters on Middlesex Turnpike in Burlington to the theaters on Rte. 38 in Woburn.

Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers (right off 128) has a nice AMC Loews theater with an IMAX.

Jordans Furniture in Woburn has an IMAX.

You beat me to it.

I visit the IMAX at their Natick location and it's a great theater. The seats are made with Tempurpedic foam. Plus you've got to love the "butt kickahs" under every seat.

If you want to do something a little different, look at Chunky's in Haverhill. They serve food & drink (including alcohol if you want it) and you sit in old bucket seats from cars. It's not sparkling new (some may call it run down) but it's a neat and unique place to see a show.
