Hi!

We are moving back to Texas this summer but we are currently in MA. It will still be very cold in March so definitely bring long underwear and lots of layers. Drive into Boston; parking will be difficult but if you are staying in Worcester you will need a car.

the best things for kids: The Children's Museum in Boston is really good; so is the Aquarium. There are so many things to do in Boston. You can go to Harvard Square. There are many historical things to see in Boston. You could walk the Freedom Trail but it may be too cold to do that.

Dress warmly!!! And have fun!!

Weather in Massachusetts can vary- predicting right now it will definitely be cold might not be correct. Average high March 1st is 42 degrees. low of 27. By March 31st the average high is 52 with a low of 36. These are averages, and it may be colder or warmer.

If from Texas this may be 'chilly' therefore it might be wise to bring a light to medium jackets and sweaters with appropriate wet weather shoes etc.
If visiting in early Mach, be prepared for the possibility of snow and cold. If from mid month on, the possibility of extreme snow events and very cold weather lessens. Have Fun! Boston has much to offer- try and visit Plymouth- south of Boston on route 3- they have a replica of the Mayflower, Plymouth Rock is here- and do visit Plimoth Plantation.

Default Things to do in Mass

Wondering if you can postpone your trip Northeast until April, May is even better? In March the weather is still "winter". It is usually a cold and raw month, windy and not very enjoyable, especially for outdoor activities. However April is wonderful as is May and June.
In nice weather doing the swan boats in the Boston public gardens would be fun for a 7 year old as would the Duck boat tours, which tour on land and end up in the water(Charles River)
Walking around Fanueil Market, a rehabbed historical area that offers restaurants, shops and outdoor entertainment ie. jugglers, magicians would be a great take for a 7 year old. They entertain however in the nice weather.
Across the street from there you will find the North End which is the area where you would find the best Italian food and pastry shops. It is very quaint with widing narrow streets and older brown stone buildings. In the summer they have many festivals there. In that area along Atlantic Ave, you will find the Aquarium, nice way to spend some time. They have a live show also that is a good take. The science museum is good too. They have a planetarium as well as other special shows.
Walk down Newbury Street for some upscale and interesting shopping.
Copley Square is also a nice area to walk around, there is a Cheesecake Factory in that area which would be good for a family meal. The indoor copley Square mall is nice for walking around. Especially if its cold out.
Boston is a walking city and as such the weather plays a role. T system is good to get around. do not attempt to drive around Boston.
Don't know much about the Worcester area, but I have been there and it does not seem that there is much there for sightseeing or entertainment. Someone who lives out there could correct me on that.
Outside of the city, Plymouth is a great area to visit- Plymouth plantation.
From there you can go onto Cape Cod and spend some time around the national seashore, best beaches, they go from the Eastham area to Provincetown. You can take a whale watching trip out of Provincetown.
The Northshore of Boston is also a nice area to visit. Salem has many exhibits and museums pertaining to the witch trials, you could spend a whole day there, there is shopping and museums and some good restaurants. Gloucester and Rockport also nice but again in warmer weather. Hope that helps.
