It is our first time visiting to capecod/Boston area. How many days can you cover capecod and Martha Vineyards. We have 4-5 days and not sure how to divide between boston/capecod/Vineyard.

1. What is best place to stay in capecod with kids. And be also easily able to get to Martha's Vineyard from there.

2. Do you need a car rental for a day trip to Martha's Vineyard.

3. Can you rent a condo for 2-3 nights only in July?

Thanks,
Sim

As you probably know, Martha's Vineyard (and Nantucket) are both islands. You can either fly there via Cape Air or take a ferry.

Cape Air info Cape Air. Your wings for New England. (http://www.capeair.net/common/index.php?lng=CAPE&div=AA&nav=AA&page=A02 - broken link)

Here is Ferry information (you can take a car on the ferry, but it's pricey to do so and I don't think you need the car once you get to the island). Steamship Authority Home Page

You'd probably want a car on the Cape to get around and to get to the ferry or airport. But if you're asking whether you need a car on the Vineyard, I'd say no. It's a pretty small island. It would be cheaper to take a taxi or the bus on the island. Bus info on island - Martha's Vineyard Transit Authority

I might suggest a couple of days in Woods Hole, a village in Falmouth. You can walk to the Vineyard ferry. They also have the Woods Hole Oceanagraphic Institute there which has a small aquarium and a lot of "hands-on" stuff for kids. When they were younger, my kids loved visiting there. Also some pretty decent and inexpensive food. Good playgrounds, too (not sure how old your children are). Woods Hole also operates cruises that cater to children and educating them about the ocean.
