Hi,

The MBTA website says that kids under age 11 ride free with a paying adult. Does anyone know whether this applies only to the subway or also the commuter rail? The free kids statement is on a page that references subway, bus, commuter rail, etc., but it's not clear to me whether the free fare refers to all modes of public transportation. It sounds too good to be true, so if any of you have actually ridden on the commuter rail with young kids and know whether kids are indeed free, I'd really appreciate hearing about it. I know I can call MBTA to inquire, but I was hoping to hear from someone with actual personal experience.

Thanks!

Hi,

The commuter rail is free for kids under 11, at least it was the last time we rode it which was in March of this year (my son was 10 at the time and I asked).
